dear finn,
today the mcconnel's hosted round four of our friendly iron chef competition up at their house in tremonton. the ingredient was oranges, and i had really been looking forward to making our dish. we were in charge of an appetizer, so i was going to do shrimp bruschetta with orange pepper jelly! mmm mmmmm, yummy. :) sadly, this morning i woke up sicker than i have been in ages. i had the chills all night, and woke up with a fever, and to top it all off my voice was gone. i felt quite miserable, which for me, is saying something. needless to say, i was in no condition to mingle with friends, nor did i want anyone else to catch what i am assuming is the flu. :( so i stayed at home to get some r&r, and you and dad made the journey up to tremonton to enjoy delicious food and good company.
because i wasn't going, i decided to simplify our dish, since i'm quite certain dad could never have pulled off the shrimp bruschetta. ;) haha so i sent you guys up with crackers, feta cheese and the orange pepper jelly, and told dad to turn it into a dip. he didn't exactly put it together the way i told him to, but it still looks decent so props to him for doing a fine job!
it sounded like all of the food was amazing. ours even ended up in a three-way tie for winner. in the end, kristin's cake won out! way to go kristin!! next month the competition will be held at the clark's, and instead of a specific ingredient they just decided to do a bbq theme. i am already looking forward to it, and hope i'm not sick!
