when dad and i were first married, we took a snowmobiling trip with grandpa jeff and wendy for dad's birthday. that year we went up to west yellowstone, and it was so much fun to be in the great outdoors and experience the beauty all around us. plus it's sometimes nice to just get away for a weekend. well, since then, dad and grandpa have made a tradition out of it, except now they go up to the bear river cabins instead of west yellowstone, since it is so much closer. i didn't go with them last year (because i was pregnant with you and due in a month, so i didn't think i would have much fun). well, even though i am pregnant this year, dad didn't let me use that as an excuse to stay home! he wanted us to come with him, so we did. :)
now, originally we were going to leave you at home with grandma cindy. we just figured that you'd be doing all the same things up there as you would at home...eating, pooping, crawling around on the dirty floor, playing with toys, sleeping, etc...and we thought it would be easier to let you stay at home and spend some time with grandma cindy. well, the morning we were supposed to leave, i woke up in hysterics! i was too sad at the thought of leaving you behind. :( i literally couldn't leave you, so we brought you with us, and it turned out to be a fun weekend.
we brought a bunch of your toys and your pack-n-play to sleep in. the toys were a good idea, because they kept you entertained. the pack-n-play however, didn't come in much handy because you wouldn't sleep anywhere but in our bed. it was really hard being in the same room as you, because our bedtimes are so different, so when we put you down at 8, we pretty much had to go down too. you could still hear us in our bed though, and you'd wake up crying for us so eventually we gave in and let you sleep with us. all i can say is i don't know how people sleep with their babies because you were a nightmare to sleep with!!! i love you more than anything in the world, and you better never forget it, but sleeping with you is out of the question! it's crazy that a 29" 20 lb. little boy could be such a bed hog. ;)
even though we didn't have any good night sleeps while we were there, we still managed to have fun during the day. one day grandpa jeff stayed in the cabin with you while i went out and snowmobiled with dad and the rest of the gang, and i must say, i had a grand ol' time! we were out for nearly 5 hours, and at one point all but 1 of us (there were six in the group, total) got stuck! it was pretty funny. we were just so glad we had some guys there to help get us out. :)
it was fun to spend time with grandpa jeff and grandma wendy. after the 5 hours you spent with grandpa that one day, you were hooked. you used to get kinda nervous around him, mostly because you didn't know him, but now you love him and want to be by him. it was really cute! it was also fun for me to see dad in his element. he sure has became a huge fan of snowmobiling, and has gotten really good at it. the only down side to the trip was that i have been really sick (with a cold), and being out in the cold for a couple days didn't seem to have helped things....i am starting to feel worse. :( hopefully it will go away soon!!!
love you dear boy.
love,
mom
