dear finn,
yesterday - march 30 - mr. locke james phippen turned one year old! i remember so well when he was born. you see, i was friends with his dad, peter, in college, then he got married and moved to virginia, where his wife attended law school. they moved back to utah after she graduated, and last year in february or so, they moved to bountiful! peter contacted me before they even moved to bountiful and told me that he thought his wife and i would get along really well because apparently we're a lot alike. it was almost as if he was setting us up on a date! lol that was in september of 2010...a few days after he sent that message to me we realized both chelsey and i were due within a week of each other, both with baby boys! then when they moved to bountiful it was as if we were destined to be friends. :) i know this sounds super cheesy, but i think it's true. anyway, so last year, the day before mr. locke was born, dad and i went up to the phippen's house, i met chelsey and we've been friends ever since.
it has been so much fun to watch you and locke grow together over the past year. i think you know each other, or at least recognize each other somewhat when you are together. i don't think you're really at the age where you play together, but you like observing one another, probably wondering what in the world the other tiny human is. ;) we have to keep a close eye on you, you especially, because you like to poke eyes and bite locke's tiny fingers! haha it's funny, but also sad. i have a feeling you two will grow up to be great friends, and i just love that. :)
locke's birthday party was today, and chelsey went all out. it was a wonderful party....farm themed, complete with a live chicken on their doorstep! everything looked so cute, but i would expect no less from chelsey. she is like martha stewart. we had fun talking to everyone and watching locke open his presents. you were particularly interested in a balloon locke received from someone. i'm pretty sure you grabbed it right out of his hands! we'll have to start teaching you better manners. ;) today was the day you took off walking, and everyone at the party was so impressed with how well you were walking. i was a proud mama. :)
i'm so glad you have a friend like locke. they are hard to find and i know in the years to come you will cherish your friendship with him and i hope you do all you can to be a good friend back to him. love ya dude!
love,
mom
