today we went to seven peaks salt lake. dad loves water parks, and he has been begging us to go to one with him all summer. i like water parks (probably not as much as dad), but you are still so little and it has been sooooo hot outside lately, i just didn't know if it would be a good idea to take you. but eventually dads persistency paid off for him and we gave in and decided to go!
getting out the door was a bit of work. we were all still pretty much exhausted from the drive-in movies last night. when we finally got in the car we realized we needed to stop at the store and pick up a few things. we finally made it to the water park, but by the time we got there you were ready to eat again so we found a spot on the grass and i fed ya....then, four hours later from the time we left the house (okay that's an exaggeration but it sure felt like that) we were floatin' around in the lazy river!
when we woke up this morning we thought today would be a pretty good day to take you because there was some cloud cover and it wasn't quite as hot as it has been lately. so that was nice, however it was a little windy and you do not like the wind (you have a hard time breathing in it). while we were in the lazy river you kept getting bursts of wind in your face, so you'd gulp and try and catch your breath. that, combined with the fact that you were carrying around an estimated 5 extra pounds in your soaking wet diaper (target didn't have any waterproof diapers in your size :-o) didn't make the lazy river too enjoyable for you. we were pretty bummed you didn't like it because you LOVED the lazy river at the bountiful rec center. i think under better conditions (no wind + waterproof diaper) you probably would have loved the lazy river at seven peaks too. we will try it again sometime.
after going around the lazy river a couple times we got out and hurried back to our spot to take your diaper off. as soon as we took it off you were golden. you fell right to sleep in my lap and slept pretty much the rest of the time we were there. i just sat there with you while dad played around at the park. he only went on one water slide, which shocked me! apparently he had to wait in line for about 45 minutes just to go on one slide. he said it was just no fun waiting that long with no one to talk to, so after that he went around the lazy river one more time and spent a few minutes in the wave pool, then he was ready to go home. next time we will have to make sure dad brings a friend with him. ;-)

love you mr. finn jeffrey powell!
love,
