..my stolen heart..

dear finn,

when a woman is pregnant, she gets asked two questions from the day people know she is expecting: 1) when are you due? and 2) what are you having? as soon as you know the gender of the baby, people respond with "oh, boys are the best!" needless to say, i had a lot of expectations of what having a boy would be like! i think it is something that you just have to experience, because the joy of having a little boy to raise and spend every moment of the day with can't be put into words...it is indescribable. the only thing i can think to say is that you have stolen my heart, dear boy. my heart beats for you, and i can't imagine my life without you. you make me want to be better at everything i do.

as you grow each day and learn new things, there are moments when i see our lives flash before my eyes...before i know it you'll be a grown man getting married in the temple. everything seems to happen so fast, i just wish i could press pause and freeze you the way you are right now, so that i could have a few more months of you as a seven month old. the past couple months have been so much fun...you are becoming so interactive, curious, explorative, sweet, and are just as easy-going as ever. i love seeing these different parts of your personality come out and feel so grateful for the opportunity to stay at home with you each day. we are both so lucky that your dad is so hard-working and good at what he does. we have been so blessed by heavenly father, and i pray each day that dad will stay busy with work, and healthy and strong, so that i can continue to stay home and raise you while he works hard at what he does.

last night i had a particularly difficult night. i'm not sure that difficult is the right word...i guess it just hit me last night how fast you are growing up. seeing your tiny little body crawl around is the cutest thing in the world...i can't believe you are seven months old and already doing these things, because a lot of babies don't crawl/stand until eight, nine or even ten months old. you must just be an extremely active and mobile little man. :)

anyway, for dinner last night we fed you our dinner...the dinner that dad and i were eating. we didn't mash it, or puree it or do anything special for you, we just fed you off of our plate...and you ate it! i was so amazed, because not more than two weeks ago we tried feeding you the same thing (roast, mashed potatoes, corn and carrots) and you wouldn't eat it because you didn't like the texture. and here we are two weeks later and you were gumming it! this particular milestone made me realize how fast you change, and i kind of lost control of my emotions. i cried for two hours, and at 11 o'clock pm i woke you up and brought you into bed to cuddle with me! i just needed some time to cuddle with my rapidly changing little man.

the next day you started crawling the stairs and giving me kisses, and as much as i love both, it didn't make me feel any better about how fast you're growing up. you change daily kid...sometimes i can't even believe my eyes. i am so glad you are so healthy and strong, and developmentally you seem to be right on track, if not ahead. i pray each day that you will continue to grow and stay healthy and strong. love you to the moon and back baby finn!

love,
mom
