dear finn,
last night we went to dinner with my childhood best friends, lizzy and abi, and their husbands. our favorite restaurant to go to when we were in high school was buca di beppo...i'm pretty sure we went there at least once a month, so we figured that would be a great place to go and catch up with one another, as it has been quite a while since we've been together.
you met lizzy when you were just a few weeks old, but you've never met seth. and you have seen abi a few times but never her husband ammon. they all thought you were adorable, and had fun taking turns holding you during dinner. you spent almost the entire time in lizzy's arms. she is somewhat of a baby whisperer. she has nannied ever since i can remember, and it is obvious why...babies and kids (and people in general!) love her. she was a pro at eating while holding and entertaining you, and i can't wait to see her with kids of her own one day! it was so funny, every minute or so you would look up at her and stare for about 15 seconds, then you'd return to looking at the rest of the table and eating food or playing with a toy...then 60 seconds later, you'd look back up at lizzy. we were getting quite a kick out of it! while at dinner you tried gnocchi for the first time and i was amazed that you liked it (it's got a very interesting taste).
after dinner we went down the street to another little italian joint for dessert - they have the best gelato i've ever tasted outside of italy. i am currently on a "no sweets" diet, but i had to break it because i couldn't resist the taste of that delicious hazelnut flavored gelato. :)
it was such a fun night. we spent nearly three hours eating and talking, and it was so great to catch up with them. hopefully it won't be long before we see them again!
love,
mom
