..sightseeing in san fran..

dear finn,

after the wedding on saturday we were pretty exhausted and still a little shaken up from the accident of the century on friday, but we decided it would be best for our mental well-being to get out and about and have some fun! san francisco is full of great sights to see, so we took you out to see san fran for your first time!

first we went down to fisherman's wharf because momma was craving clam chowder in a boudin bread bowl! mmm mmmm...delish! that almost instantly lifted my spirits! you, daddy and nanny goat got something else for lunch - dad was craving fish&chips, so he found a restaurant that looked good and you guys ate there...dad paid $15 for one crab cake! can you believe that?! i sure can't. he said he didn't look at the price on the menu. i can believe that! he said it was good, but not $15 good. :)
after eating lunch we drove around san fran for awhile...we drove down the famous lombard street in our huge ford f150 rental truck. yes, we rented a truck. dad said it was the only rental available at the time, but i am not sure i believe him! i think he just likes to drive trucks. ;) we drove through golden gate park and then went over to the sight-seeing area by the golden gate bridge.

then we met up with aunt tiff and uncle kev, who were with dad's cousins steph, colby and baby keller stringham...we caravaned through san fran together...drove over the golden gate bridge and stopped at the viewing area on the other side. then we drove a few miles away to muir woods and took a stroll through the woods. it was b.e.autiful and you loved it! you loved it just as much as you loved the hike we went on a few weeks ago...maybe even more since the trees were even bigger and taller! after our stroll through muir woods we went back to oakland and went to dinner at a delicious pizza joint called zachary's.
it sure was a fun day, filled with many sights and good company. it was just what i needed to take my mind off of the rest of our stressful weekend. and you, my dear, were a champ! you slept pretty much the entire day (boy oh boy do you love to be in the car!). i am happy that part of our weekend was fun. even though you probably don't know the difference between the day of the horrible train accident and the day we went sightseeing in san francisco, i sure know the difference and let me tell you, sightseeing day>train accident day by far!

love you mr. man. maybe we will get back to the bay area one day. i am pretty scarred from this trip, but hopefully in time that scarring will fade and we will venture back out there once again. :)

love,
mom
