today was your daddy's FIRST father's day, thanks to YOU!! he doesn't really like to write much, but if he did i know he would tell you that you are his pride and joy, and that since you were born he has loved every second of being a father.
daddy loves coming home from work every day so that he can spend quality time with you. he loves to feed you and hold you in his arms or on his lap while he is watching tv or playing on the computer or iPad. he says his favorite time of day with you is first thing in the morning after you have woken up and eaten...you are always super smiley and chatty, and dad just loves to sit there and talk to you. :-) he also loves late at night when you are just getting ready to go to bed. he will feed you and sing to you while changing your dipey and usually you just sing right along with him, it is so stinkin' cute!
dad is always so concerned about your comfort and well-being. if he sees me holding you in a way that he thinks might be hurting your tummy or other parts of you he will kindly say something to me in your defense. the other day i brought your playmat out on the patio and set you on it and he said, "that looks pretty uncomfortable for him to be on the cement like that..." (he didn't realize that the part of the mat you were laying on was on the rug :-)). whenever i strap you in your carseat he checks to make sure it isn't squeezing your balls too much! ha he is the same way when cleaning you while changing your diaper - always being careful not to hurt you down there! ;-)
back in july when we found out i was pregnant, but before we knew whether you were a boy or a girl, people would always ask us what we wanted (a boy or a girl?), and very enthusiastically dad would always say "a boy!" he wanted a little buddy to go wheeling with, camping with, shootin the guns with, etc. etc. he also thought it would be nice to have a boy first so that he could watch over and protect the younger siblings one day. his smile was from ear to ear the day we found out you were a boy!
i don't think i have ever seen dad quite as happy, proud or excited as he was the day you were born. he had a glow to him that was very obvious to me and so many others. when we went to the hospital to see if my water had actually broken and the nurse told us you would be born that day, dad excitedly said, "really?! like we will for sure be born today?! about how long do you think until he comes out...a couple hours? more?" ha ha he was ecstatic!!! and every day since he has kept that proud glow. you mean the world to him mr. finn. :-)
i can already see that you have a very special relationship with your dad and i am excited to see the bond you have with him grow even stronger as you get older. i think you two will grow to be the best of friends. :-)
you have two grandpa's who love you more than you'll ever know. grandpa jeff and grandpa jimbob light up whenever they see you, or even just a picture of you! i try to send them both a picture of you once a day, and both of them have commented on how it is the highlight of their day. we see grandpa jeff about once a week and it means the world to him to be able to hold you and feed you a bottle. grandpa jimbob has been out of town for a couple months, but he calls all the time to make sure "master finnigans" is doing well.
i hope you will always know how loved you are by all these men. you are one lucky little boy mr. finn...very lucky indeed.
love,
mom
