dear finn,
up until this past week i have been pretty good about keeping you out of the kitchen. i really just haven't seen a reason for you to be crawling around in there, because there is not much to play with (well, that babies are supposed to play with, anyway ;)). i always try to get the cooking/cleaning/baking done when you are asleep or after dad gets home and can take care of you. but with holiday baking and wanting to make/decorate a gingerbread house, etc...there just wasn't enough time for me to do all these things without letting you crawl around on the kitchen floor for an hour or so each day, so i gave in and let you have your way with everything!
i immediately put the dog food/water out of your reach, because the few times that you have crawled all over the kitchen, those were the first things you went for. there is a cardboard box that is currently on the floor (half-way full of rootbeer bottles) and you played in and with that box for a good hour, no joke! who knew that something so simple could entertain you for so long? i loved it. then you made your way underneath the table. you enjoyed it for a few minutes, but then i think you panicked because i heard some scared little noises come from your way...i had to take a few pics, because you are just two cute. my little explorer!
to my dismay, you found the appliances and loved rubbing your grimy paws all over them! the dishwahser...oven...refrigerator....they are all full of your handprints and mouthprints. it is pretty funny. at first i tried to preventing it, but then i threw caution to the wind and that, "aww what the heck, i might as well get used to it because i have a feeling this is how it's going to look for the next 30 years!"
i must say, i was pleasantly surprised with how well you entertained yourself for a couple hours each time. i mean, i was there, and played with you and kept a very close eye on you...but for the most part i think you were enjoying discovering these uncharted territories. you tried opening the drawers, and you kept standing up and putting the nearest drawer knob to you in your mouth. you do that up in our bedroom with the nightstand knobs...it's pretty funny.
anyway mr finn, thanks for being a great cooking buddy. i can't wait for a couple years from now (maybe less??) when we get you an apron and you can actually bake/cook with me. we will have so much fun! :)
love,
mom
