..iron chef night..

dear finn,

we have started something that i hope will become a monthly tradition with our friends: an iron chef competition! last night we hosted the first iron chef night at our house, and it was a success! the ingredient that everyone had to use was fresh cherries, and all of the dishes were delicious. i made salmon with a cherry glaze and cherry salsa. the mcconnel's were in charge of the appetizer and they brought chips and cherry salsa. the ferrell's were in charge of a side dish and they brought orzo with cherries. and the clark's were in charge of dessert and they brought homemade cherry ice cream! all of it was so good.

our friends zack and amber came and they were the judges. there were four different categories to be judged in...1) difficulty 2) presentation 3) creativity 4) overall. we won for presentation, and i must say, the salmon did look beautiful! i wish i would have gotten a picture of it. the clark's won for difficulty, the mcconnel's for creativity and the ferrell's took home overall best dish and are the reigning iron chef's!

we also celebrated the summer birthday's last night...brooke, ben, me, mike and dave. jenny brought an ice cream cake so after all our food digested we stuffed ourselves some more with that.

you, krew and madi were the center's of attention. none of you had met zack or amber before and they thought you were adorable! amber is currently carrying miss harper in her belly. she is due on halloween, so that is one more future friend for you! we are so excited for the spencer's and can't wait to meet miss harper. :)

last night was so much fun. i especially love having all the babies around. it is so weird that at our dinner parties last year there were no babies, now there are lots. even though things are bound to get crazy as soon as you guys start crawling and talking and walking, i know it will just get more and more fun!
