..paradise..

dear finn,

one of the reasons i love vacationing in hawaii is because the atmosphere is just so relaxed. it just seems that no one has a care in the world, and that attitude becomes extremely contagious. every morning we woke up and just took it easy - ate breakfast, lounged for a bit. we usually headed down to the pool around 8:30 or 9:00, and spent plenty of time swimming in the different pools at our hotel, or playing on the beach. it was so relaxing and fun! i didn't think i would get much "laying out" time in, since you are such a busy body and all, but with the help of dad and grandma i got plenty! not to mention, you took your naps poolside every day, giving us all some much needed r&r.....it was magnificent, so THANK YOU! :)
besides playing at the pool and beach, we also spent some time walking up and down 'front street' in downtown lahaina. it is this cute street right on the ocean, lined with different shops and restaurants. dad and i were on the hunt to find some sunglasses, so one day we spent a good couple hours looking for the perfect pair. another night we went down and ate dinner at bubba gump's shrimp co. we were seated just in time to see the sun set, it was beautiful!

dad went on a couple different scuba diving adventures while we were there. it was extremely windy while we were there, which meant huge waves, so dad didn't get to go to some of the cool spots that he wanted to (like the molokini crater). i was bummed for him, but he still had fun doing the dives he did. he bought a "go pro" camera and took it under water with him! pretty cool to see what life looks like under the sea! maybe you'll get to experience it for yourself one day. :)
even though it seems like we didn't do a lot while we were there, it was still so much fun. exactly the kind of vacation i needed. since you are so little, and since i am pregnant, there isn't much for us to do anyway! i am just grateful for the opportunity we had to get outta town and enjoy relaxing on a beautiful island.

love,
mom
