dear finn,
today was mother's day, my second as a mommy. :) i feel so special and blessed and honored to be your mom every single day, but i am grateful for a day like mother's day nonetheless, and it makes me appreciate this sacred responsibility i've been given even more. mother's day is more about celebrating your own mom than celebrating being a mom, though, and i was grateful to be able to spend it with my mom...grandma cindy. :)
we had grandma cindy and nanny goat over for lunch, and zac and alicia came too. dad grilled some delicious steaks, and we had fruit, salad, corn on the cob, bread and dessert. you were asleep while we were eating, but you still got to spend plenty of time with your two grandma's, which i know they were both grateful for. you also enjoyed goofing around with uncle zac. today, more than ever, you really seemed to think he was funny and enjoy his quirky personality. ;) you were quite the goof ball yourself....like uncle, like nephew! haha
the best part of mother's day, for me, happened the night before. you had a late afternoon nap yesterday, which resulted in you not wanting to go to bed on time. so dad and i let you stay up way past your bedtime, but you started to get kind of wired, so i thought it was time to go to bed. i knew you would fight falling asleep though, so instead of putting you in your crib, we went into mine and dad's bedroom, i closed the shutters and turned off all the lights, and you, me, duke and claus just laid in our bed until you finally fell asleep. it was wonderful snuggling with you. :) you fell asleep pretty quickly, but i wasn't about to give up the cuddle time so soon, so i just laid there with you cradled in my arm. i then said a prayer to heavenly father, asking him to help me feel baby sam. i felt baby sam move for the first time three or so weeks ago, and felt him a few times after that, but it had been a week and a half since i last felt him move, and i was really starting to worry that he might not be alive in there. :( i have been really stressing out about it the past week, and i've been really on edge because of it. so as i lay there, with my three boys cuddling close by (you, duke and claus), i pled with heavenly father to make sam move so that i could have some peace knowing he was still alive. and guess what, not more than two minutes later baby sam started wiggling around in my belly. i cried tears of joy for a good hour, and just enjoyed that time spent with my four little boys....the ones who made me a mommy and make my life complete. nothing could have made me happier on mother's day, and i know for the rest of my life i will always cherish that hour spent with you four. :)
love you more than you'll ever know finnjy moo....to the moon and back, times infinity squared and beyond!
love,
mom
